History

Since 1931, Airstream trailers have been an American icon for travel and adventure. Founded by Wally Byam, Airstream has achieved the status of a legend for those who appreciate the promise of the open road. Airstream Trailer Company went into full production in 1932, when fewer than 48 trailer manufacturers were registered for business. Five years later, nearly 400 companies squared off against each other. Today, of those 400, only Airstream remains.

Not just a stylish and enduring riveted aluminum shell, Airstream’s efficiency of design flows from its radius-contoured and aerodynamic exterior through to its highly attractive and functional interior. Airstreams have been everywhere.  From every nook and cranny of North America, to Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and Australia, too. The passion of Airstream owners is

just as legendary as the trailer’s design.  Their stories and experiences from their adventures and Airstream rallies are as compelling a travelogue as can be found anywhere.

Yet for over 80 years, only Airstream owners have been able to experience the Airstream way of life, traveling the world in style and efficiency, enjoying the myriad benefits of the trailers’ design and livability. Until now. Finally, adventurous travelers can fulfill their desire to experience an Airstream journey by renting a fully-equipped Airstream trailer and tow vehicle.
